“Concussion is the most common type of trauma in sports.”
This fact, highlighted by EPFL, was at the heart of the “Plus fort que le choc: comprendre la commotion dans le sport pour mieux la prévenir” conference. Held on July 6th at the Vaudoise Arena, the event was organized on the sidelines of ECSS Lausanne 2026.
The event was a success, featuring passionate discussions and, above all, powerful testimonials from athletes, coaches, and healthcare professionals.
These real-world experiences confirmed the urgent need to act on three fronts:
1️⃣ Understand: Demystify the mechanics of impact and its invisible consequences.
2️⃣ Prevent: Integrate adapted equipment (such as custom-fit mouthguards) and neck strengthening into training routines.
3️⃣ React: Adopt the right protocols at the first sign of trouble.
As EPFL points out in their detailed analysis here 👉 Linkedin Post, concussion is not a fatality but a risk that can be reduced through science and prevention.
A huge thank you to all participants for their engagement and the quality of the exchange. Awareness is growing!
